About the Event
Our most popular class, baby led feeding is a approach where you simutaneously feed your infant both solid and puree foods as thier first foods and support them to feed themselves. Baby led feeding is used by many Dietitians, Speech Language Pathologist and Occupational Therapist with thier own childern. Baby Led Feeding implements eating and feeding behaviour methodology from Ellyn Satters "The Divisions of Responsibilty." This feeding style is proven to reduce picky eating among toddlers and childern. It also support normal growth, honors childerns' hunger and fullness cues and teaches them to develop a healthy relationship with food.
In this class we dicuss the Division of Responsibilties and how this translate into meal times and preventing picky eating for years to come. We will discuss common nutrition questions and requirements for infants including iron, protein, fat and carbs. We will review the current guidelines about how and when to introduce the 8 top allergen foods. We include topics like milk supplementation options, why to avoid honey and how to deal with infant constipation.
We will then explore foods and ways to introduce solids as a babies first food. We will explore this journey from ~ 6 - 12 months of age. With many food suggestions and you will be given a list of 100 foods to try before age one.
